As you know what the dealer has to reveal is the most important at blackjack game that is why the ability to read the dealer’s tells will surely help the player to reduce the house edge. Blackjack tell is a subconscious gesture or expression that the dealer or player makes without knowing it and the players who manage to notice tells have a great opportunity to use it in their gaming strategy. Of course, forget about any blackjack tells when you gamble online as only live dealer and players can make such mistakes.

The most common blackjack tell is when the dealer accidentally reveals his hole card. This happens when the dealer checks the card and lifts it at a higher angle. In case you want to spot the dealer’s tell you must be close enough to the dealer and watch his actions attentively.

If the player holds a small card (2, 3, 4, 5, or 6) it may take him more time to check it as it can be confused with an Ace or any other small card. So, if the player needs some time to see his hole card it is obviously a small stiff card and you can make a decision according to this information.

Face cards are very easy to spot and in case the dealer has any of Face cards he usually takes a quick look at the hole cards. Thus if the dealer doesn’t need some time to check the card it is obviously anything higher than 6.

In addition, if the dealer checks the hole card twice it may mean that it is high card. Really, it is quite easy to spot the number denoting the card value rather than the letter (A, K, Q, or J). In case after checking the hole card the dealer places his hand slightly to the right it signals that his hole card is low, but if he puts it in the centre the card is obviously high.

To tell the truth, the tells vary from person to person that is why it is not a good idea to believe all the dealer’s emotions because they can mean quite different things. Only professional players are able to read the dealer’s tells successfully.

The ability to read the dealer’s tell is very useful at the real based casinos but you are to remember that the dealers are experienced enough not to make multiple mistakes that is why you don’t have to rely on this method only. You may spend some time watching the dealers at the casino and at last join the table with the dealer who is more likely to give away the information with his gestures and actions. At some casinos the special measures are taken to prevent any tricks including those connected with the tells reading. Thus a special recognition system or camera is used to read the hole cards and dealer doesn’t even have to touch the card to check its value. The card is scanned and the dealer is only told what option to choose. In such case the ability to read dealer’s tells is completely useless.
